A drawing set without a programme drifts. A pour booked without the right grade of cement or steel stops the site. If management sits with one office and materials with another that never saw the drawings, the cost shows up as delay and rework. 01The two kinds of work

Construction project management

The running of the job: scope, programme, coordination of design and site packages, progress against milestones, and a single line of reporting to the client.

This is useful when the owner needs one team accountable for how the work moves — not only for pouring concrete. The programme names what happens in which order: drawings, sanctions where required, procurement, structure, finishes or pavement, and specialized packages. Site meetings, progress notes, and variation control sit against that programme. Design and engineering stay with the construction team so a change on paper is the same change on site. Project management on this page is the contractor’s coordination of delivery. It is not a claim to act as a third-party PMC brand or a software product.

Construction supplies

Materials for the job, specified and delivered to the site: cement, reinforcement, aggregates, bricks or blocks, waterproofing, pipes, and other items named in the written scope.

Grade, quantity, and delivery date follow the drawings and the programme — not a generic rate list that ignores the pour schedule. Deliveries are checked against the order before they go into store or onto the pour. Wastage and lead times are discussed when the estimate is made, not after the site has run short. Construction supplies here means supply for a project ERVP Infra is managing or building, or a defined supply package agreed in writing. It is not an open retail counter for walk-in building materials.

Brief and packages

What is needed: project management only, supplies only, or both — and whether the same office is also doing construction, infrastructure, or specialized works.

Scope, BOQ, and programme

A written scope and a bill of quantities or material schedule. A programme that ties drawings, procurement, and site stages. What is in this contract, and what stays with the owner or another contractor.

Procurement plan

For supplies: grades, quantities, vendors or sources, and delivery windows matched to the programme. For management-only jobs: who buys what, and how ERVP Infra tracks it.

Kick-off and coordination

Site or office kick-off. Interfaces with civil, steel, drains, water, or E&M named so packages do not wait on each other without a date.

Delivery and progress

Materials received and checked where supplies are in scope. Progress measured against the programme. Variations written down before they become disputes.

Close-out

Final quantities, open items, and handover notes. For supplies, a reconciliation of ordered, delivered, and used where the agreement requires it.

A supplies-only package may skip full site management steps. A management-only package may not include material purchase. The written scope names which steps apply.

03What has to be settled before work starts

Role of ERVP Infra: Whether the firm is managing the whole job, coordinating selected packages, supplying materials only, or combining management and supply with construction or specialized works. Named in the agreement so reporting lines are clear.
Programme and milestones: Start, key stage dates, and what “complete” means for each package. Dependencies on sanctions, owner decisions, or other contractors written in — not assumed.
Specifications and grades: Concrete grade, steel grade, brick or block type, waterproofing system, pipe class, and any brand or equivalent rule the owner requires. Named so the store and the site are not substituting on the day of delivery.
Quantities and wastage: BOQ or material schedule with units. How wastage and short deliveries are handled. A rate without a quantity basis is not an estimate.
Site logistics: Access for trucks, unloading space, storage, and who signs for deliveries. A site that cannot take a full load needs a different delivery plan.

Can you manage a project without also building it?: Yes, where the agreement is for management and coordination only. Many clients combine management with construction or specialized works under the same office.
Do construction supplies mean you run a materials shop?: No. Supplies are for a defined project package: materials specified, ordered, and delivered to site against the scope and programme.
Who decides material grades?: The drawings and the written specification. Where the owner names a brand or equivalent, that is followed. Substitutions are agreed in writing, not on the day of delivery.
